What’s new in RTLright

Version 0.20.2 explains when there have been too many license attempts.

• Too many license activations or checks in a short time now show a clear message: try again in about 15 minutes. Previously this looked like a connection problem.
• From 0.20.1: after restoring from Time Machine or moving to a new Mac, RTLright renews the Mac’s registration automatically, and Activate License works at any time.
• From 0.20: choose the RTLright Share upload server in Settings → General → Advanced. wget.co.il remains the default.
• Updating from 0.19.0 or earlier? RTLright is now signed by StarkOne, LLC, so macOS asks again for Accessibility and Input Monitoring. Open RTLright Settings → Permissions, and allow Keychain access to your license if asked.
• Coming from 0.13.0 or earlier? Follow the one-time reinstall steps below. From 0.14.0, use Check for Updates in RTLright.
• Quit the old RTLright from its menu bar menu. If enabled, turn off its Launch at Login setting first.
• Download the new DMG, drag RTLright into the same Applications folder and choose Replace. Open the installed copy.
• Grant macOS permissions to the new app. If macOS asks to access your existing RTLright license in Keychain, allow it. Do not delete existing license data; preferences, trial dates and licenses are imported.
• Re-enable Launch at Login in General if desired. Remove any remaining old RTLright entry from macOS Login Items.
• The application identifier is now com.rtlright.app. Old clients show this reinstall guide; future updates use the new signed update feed.
• Automatic update checks every six hours while the app is running, with an option to turn them off.
• Check for updates immediately from the menu bar or settings, then install and relaunch through Sparkle.
• Universal build for Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 13 or later.
• Charcoal and amber branding, with individually configurable writing shortcuts.

Updating from 0.13.0 or earlier? Follow the steps above to reinstall once. Keep your existing license data.
